Weeding Today

Garden shovel in dark soil with green seedlings and weeds sprouting around it

One of my favorite weeding tips is to cut dandelions rather than pull them. Their roots run so deep that trying to dig them out disturbs the soil and brings hundreds of dormant weed seeds to the surface, where they'll happily germinate.

This morning I finally got to my side yard. I cut the weeds at the soil surface and followed up with a fresh layer of mulch. A little time spent now means fewer weeds to deal with later.
