I never got around to mulching my own gardens this spring, but I always say, "Better late than never!" When it comes to weeding and mulching, there's still plenty of time to make a difference.
The effort you put in now will pay off next spring with fewer weeds and healthier garden beds.
I use ground pine bark as my mulch of choice. It's easy to spread, looks natural, and — best of all — it doesn't seem to encourage Asian jumping worms. That's a whole topic for another Garden Journal post!
